It was all lies.An analysis of the probable dynamics of Morgoth’s (and Sauron’s) relationship with their servants. He was never going to let you die after killing the Black Hand. Like Sauron, Celebrimbor is a master of deception. The only thing Talion is to Celebrimbor is a vessel for his glorious return. Celebrimbor is the Gravewalker, not Talion. Since he's just a Wraith and can't interract with the physical world or the livng (with the exception of Gollum, presumably because he once wore the One Ring), Celebrimbor needs a body to act through. In essence, Celebrimbor is the LotR equivalent of Arthas from Warcraft lore. He is WORSE than Sauron (Sauron knows he's evil, he just doesn't care) in that Celebrimbor has become everything he swore to annihilate.

Talion is the PERFECT vessel for him easily manipulated and willing to do ANYTHING it takes to vanquish Sauron. Talion lost his family before his eyes, was slain by Sauron (or, at least, his most powerful follower, the Black Hand), and desires vengence. Celebrimbor was waiting for the right person to come along. He is using Talion to get the One Ring back (or, failing that, forge his own One Ring). That's why it's always Celebrimbor that 'takes over' to dominate Uruks, dispatch them, or command them to kill.Ĭelebrimbor is NOT your friend. That's what Branding is: Celebrimbor breaks the mind of a Uruk and shackles it to his will. Celebrimbor talks about redeeming the Uruks and purifying Mordor but he controls them through exploiting their fears and breaking their minds. To him, he is the Bright Lord of Mordor an immortal, indomidable, being of light and goodness that will scorch Sauron's evil from the world forever and usher in a new age of peace and light. He no longer sees himself as an Elven King. He sees himself as the Lord of the Rings and this world' only conceivable hope for defeating Sauron and he is willing to do ANYTHING to do it.Ĭeebrimbor has been utterly corrupted by the One Ring.

He believes, since it was him that gave the One it's own mind, that the One Ring answers to him NOT Sauron. Celebrimbor is obsessed with the idea that he, and only he, can use the power of the One Ring for good.

He feels that it's his duty to the good of all life to kill Sauron and is driven by unthinkable grief and rage after seeing Sauron butcher his wife and daughter infront of him and burn his kingdom, Eregion, to the ground. In his mind, HE'S the ONLY one that can possibly vanquish Sauron. As I said in another post, Celebrimbor sees himself as the world's only hope.
